Lawson Software boosts sales force

Lawson Software has announced plans to double its employee base across the Asia-Pacific region.

The company will be boosting its sales force in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Lawson Software has also established a new solutions and services centre in the Philippines, where it aims to nearly triple its current number of employees by the end of 2007.

The recruitment drive follows the company's $US480 million merger with Intentia International earlier this year.

The company's president and CEO, Harry Debes, said that the bulk of the hires will be at the support centre in Manila and in growing direct sales across the region.

Lawson has already made several new appointments in Australasia, including Kamal Sharma as ANZ sales director, and sales account managers Mark Johnson for New Zealand, David Grant for Queensland and Mark Fischer for NSW.

The new sales staff will be dedicated to either the M3 product line (the former Intentia solutions for the manufacturing, distribution and maintenance sectors); or the S3 product line (the former Lawson solutions aimed primarily at the services, sourcing and staffing industries).

Debes said Lawson Software is securing projects with existing customers for its Lawson Business Intelligence solution and is planning to expand cross-selling opportunities with its Human Capital Management solution.

The company competes with ERP vendors SAP and Oracle and has recently added SOA capabilities to its product range.
