Infoblox teams with Lucent on IP address management
Cara Garretson (Network World (US online))  01 December, 2005 07:10

Infoblox Tuesday announced a module for its IP address management appliance that works with Lucent Technologies' VitalQIP management software.

Announced at Network World's IT Roadmap tour that kicked off here, the Infoblox Integration Module for Lucent VitalQIP allows Infoblox's dedicated appliance to deliver VitalQIP remote server functions and to communicate with a central Lucent Enterprise Server, according to officials with both companies. The new product is aimed at large, distributed enterprises.

Infoblox's appliance is designed to facilitate identity management at the network level. The product manages IP addresses and distributed DNS and DHCP services, offloading these tasks from general-purpose servers so that they are performed more easily and securely, officials say. The product includes the Infoblox Keystone Module that manages a collection of appliances as a unified grid to simplify administration, they say.

Lucent's VitalQIP IP Address Management software includes Enterprise Server for centralized configuration, management and reporting on DNS and DHCP services, as well as Remote Server software for delivering DNS and DHCP services to remote locations.

The Infoblox-Lucent appliance, slated for availability in December through Infoblox's reseller channel, will start at US$13,495.

Network World's IT Roadmap will be presented in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 1, in Chicago on Dec. 6, and in Orange County, Calif., on Dec. 8.
