PatchLink delivers partner program

Patch management software vendor, PatchLink, has brought its global partner program to Australia to give dealers a personalised Web portal along with marketing and sales tools, technical training and support staff.

The Global Solution Provider Program (GSPP) organises partners into silver, gold and platinum levels.

It was new to the region and wanted to attract a wider net of partners, Asia-Pacific vice-president, Neal Gemassmer, said.

On the portal front, GSPP gives partners access to updates on company information, marketing campaigns, training resources, competitive insights and online prospect registration.

"The goal is to help partners improve the quality of a company's security infrastructure," Gemassmer said. "There is a growing demand at enterprise and medium-sized organisations for security patch, vulnerability and compliance management software.

"At the OS level or at the application layer, there's been a record number of security patches released this year by vendors. How do customers apply the security updates to deal with the timely and costly vulnerabilities?"

The PatchLink technology helped by offering a vulnerability assessment, remediation and IT compliancy tools, he said.

In addition to the traditional revenue stream, resellers can also expect to get annuity revenue streams by peddling the remediation tools as managed services.

Many companies were looking for a managed patching service, he said.

The launch of the partner program was the latest in a string of moves aimed at identifying market opportunities and beefing up its reseller ranks in the local security patch market, Gemassmer said.

The company recently signed a distribution deal with LAN Systems. Under an exclusive agreement, the distributor will provide support and consulting services to resellers.

As reported earlier in ARN, the company is also looking to appoint four national systems integrators with professional and educational services capabilities, up to 10 gold partners to focus on specific verticals and up to 15 authorised partners.
