IBM will make two positions in its New Zealand consulting business redundant, as part of a redeployment of consulting services staff in Australia and New Zealand.
The cuts are totally separate from the 13,000 worldwide redundancies announced earlier this month, which will mainly affect Europe, IBM NZ spokeswoman Rachel Dahlberg says.
In Australia, 70 consulting positions will go and the affected staff here and in Australia are eligible to apply for other positions within IBM. IBM employs 2,000 consulting staff across Australia and New Zealand.
The two New Zealand positions that will be eliminated are less than the number of hires in the services division this year, Dahlberg says. "To date this year, business consulting services have actively recruited seven industry-specific consultants, two graduates and a number of contractors in New Zealand."
