New Zealand was a reference site when the Australian branch of trans-Tasman insurer Vero bought Cognos' Enterprise Planning suite.
"We were looking for a new budgeting tool," Vero Australia management accounting head Melissa Mitchell says.
"We assessed a number of options and liked Cognos the best."
The Enterprise Planning product - which includes planning, budgeting, forecasting and modelling functions - was already in use at Vero New Zealand and that helped swing the Australian deal Cognos' way, she says.
"The fact New Zealand was using it meant we could pick their brains also," Mitchell says.
Vero Australia had already been using Cognos' data warehousing product and the Enterprise Planning suite is a nice fit with it, she says. The Australian branch began using the Enterprise Planning suite last year.
