SAP lures customers with migration plans

SAP has confirmed it will offer a safe passage migration program to all companies in Australia currently using PeopleSoft and JD Edwards applications.

To sweeten the deal, SAP is offering customers a maintenance fee to do so at 17 percent of the original price of their PeopleSoft and JDE software licences.

Customers migrating to mySAP ERP will receive a 75 percent trade-in credit in PeopleSoft and JDE software products. The maintenance fee includes support services not only for mySAP and NetWeaver but also PeopleSoft and JDE products during the migration.

SAP Australia marketing director Len Augustine said the safe passage program is based on the global migration model and gives clients an alternative option to upgrades.

"This is what our joint customers have been requesting," Augustine said.

"We have recently extended the same offer to all PeopleSoft and JD Edwards customers regardless of whether they run SAP as well.

"SAP believes these customers will have to make challenging upgrade decisions as Fusion product strategies continue to evolve over the next few years."

The safe passage program was launched in January this year and initially targeted SAP customers which also ran applications from either or both vendors. SAP estimates almost 2000 current customers fit into this group.

Augustine said through using TomorrowNow, a third-party maintenance and support company recently acquired by SAP, additional support is organized on a price based on customer requirements.

"Through TomorrowNow, support for existing PeopleSoft and JD Edwards software can be arranged from an additional 10 percent of the purchase price based on customer requirements."
