Sydney, March 7, 2005 – American Power Conversion (APC) announced today the newly redesigned SurgeArrest line to provide high-quality power protection for the home, home office, and business. The new SurgeArrest line offers reliable protection for sensitive electronics from the dangers of power surges, spikes, and lightning. The line includes three new series: the Essential, Home/Office, and a more advanced Performance series that offer a unique design and enhanced features. The enhanced features include an increased number of outlets, data line protection, longer cords, and innovative safety features all at a highly competitive price for a variety of users.

Unique features of APC’s new Performance and Home/Office SurgeArrest line include a removable cord management guide, which helps to keep cords neat and organised and a 180-degree rotating cord with strain relief offers flexibility in positioning the SurgeArrest unit and in routing the power cord.

The new Performance SurgeArrest series is the most feature rich surge protector in the product line. It offers guaranteed protection for high performance PCs and electronics such as copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems. In addition to the new safety and convenience features, these units have eight power outlets with two transformer blocked spaced outlets and a 3m power cord, an overload LED indicator illuminates when connected equipment draws more power than the unit’s capacity, ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) and cable modem protection, and two line telephone protection with a built-in splitter that is compatible with ADSL. This model also offers protection to Ethernet network lines (10BaseT and100BaseT). The Performance series has a lifetime product warranty, data recovery warranty, with a maximum coverage of AU$175,000.00 lifetime equipment protection policy (EPP).

The new Home/Office SurgeArrest series offers value solutions that provide reliable power protection for the home and office environment including PCs, audio and video equipment, modems, and scanners. There are six power outlets with two transformer block spaced outlets and a 2.4m power cord, and telephone line protection. One unit offers coaxial protection to safeguard cable modems, TVs, and VCRs from damaging surges and spikes. The Home/Office series has a lifetime product warranty, data recovery warranty, with a maximum coverage of AU$125,000.00 lifetime EPP.

The new Essential SurgeArrest series offers surge protection for PCs and home electronics such as DVD players, VCRs, and more. The units have one or five power outlets. The one outlet surge protectors plug directly into the outlet. The five outlet SurgeArrest has a 1.8m power cord. “T” models offer telephone line surge protection and “V” models offer coaxial protection. The Essential series has a lifetime product warranty with a maximum coverage of AU$75,000.00 lifetime EPP.
