Intel Australia appoints new GM

Intel Asia Pacific has announced that Philip Cronin will take the helm as country general manager of Intel Australia and New Zealand following the departure of David Bolt.

Cronin has been with Intel for over six years. He has held the position of Australia/NZ area sales manager for the past three years. In this role he focused on growing Intel’s revenue within the Australian and New Zealand IT channel.

In his new role Cronin will be responsible for managing operations for Intel's various local divisions including the sales and marketing of its computer and communications products and its consulting services group. He will report to Chak Wong, director of marketing and business management, Intel Asia Pacific.

“Philip has shown outstanding leadership implementing local channel programs and driving sales campaigns for our flagship Pentium 4 processor and Centrino Mobile Technology products in the Australian and New Zealand markets. These same leadership skills will serve him well in his new role,” Wong said.

Bolt played an integral role in Intel's growth in the Australian and New Zealand markets over the past seven years. He resigned from Intel late last year and left the company in early January. A spokesperson for Intel said Bolt is seeking new challenges within the Australian IT industry.
