The Sun-Netscape Alliance expanded the reach of iPlanet products this week, introducing the iPlanet Unified User Management Suite to centrally manage user accounts in extranet and electronic commerce applications. iPlanet Unified User Management Suite combines the iPlanet Directory Server with three Sun-Netscape Alliance products, the iPlanet Certificate Management System, iPlanet Meta-Directory, and iPlanet Delegated Administrator, as well as Netegrity's SiteMinder policy management software.
The management suite acts as a single control point for managing user profiles, access policies and security passwords, and digital certificates. Public key infrastructure-based user authentication, multiple directory and database support, and self-service accounts are provided by the iPlanet components, while SiteMinder furnishes single sign-on features and privilege management infrastructure. iPlanet User Management Suite will be available in October at a price of US$15 per extranet user.
The Sun-Netscape Alliance, in Mountain View, California, is at http://www.iplanet.com/alliance.
